Meet The Host

Ray Erickson

Ray Erickson is a sales leader and operator with 20+ years of experience across advertising, media, and emerging platforms.

He began his career on the agency side at Horizon as an assistant broadcast buyer before moving into sales, where he found his footing building relationships, leading teams, and driving revenue growth. He spent nearly a decade in radio before transitioning into digital, with roles across ad tech, data, and video at companies like Sizmek and Epsilon.

As the industry shifted toward streaming, Ray joined Samsung Ads, where he helped stand up the East Coast business and launch new vertical categories. He later took on builder roles in emerging platforms, including leading go-to-market efforts at Victory+, a digital sports streaming network, and serving as the first New York sales hire for Intuit's SMB MediaLabs.

Across every stage of his career, Ray has gravitated toward building; new teams, new categories, and new revenue streams. He is known for leading from the front, developing talent, and creating cultures that balance accountability with energy and trust.

Through The Seat, Ray brings that same mindset to conversations with top revenue leaders, digging into the real stories behind their careers and the paths that led them there.

Ray lives in Connecticut with his wife, two sons, and their dogs. Outside of advertising, he's usually on a tennis court, golf course, Peloton, or on the lacrosse field coaching his sons' club team.

The Seat's Origin

How It Started

The Seat was created to spotlight the journeys behind today's revenue leaders.

After more than two decades in advertising sales, building teams, launching new categories, and helping scale businesses across radio, ad tech, and streaming, Ray Erickson saw firsthand how nonlinear the path to leadership really is.

At the same time, he was consuming a wide range of podcasts, consistently drawn to one thing...not what people were doing now, but how they got there. The early decisions, the pivots, the setbacks, and the inflection points that shaped their careers.

Within the advertising industry, that part of the story rarely gets the focus it deserves. Most conversations center on the current role, the company, or the strategy, not the path.

The Seat was built to change that. It's a platform dedicated to real, unscripted conversations with revenue leaders, focused entirely on the journey to their seat. The goal is to learn from those who've done it and share those lessons with the next generation of builders, operators, and leaders.
